Water – a paradoxical element, that simulates spatial illusions; a polymorphous phenomenon, stimulated or tamed by its environment; a force majeure, that creates life, moves, and ultimately also destroys, if need be. With the project Das Wasser, der Fluss, Igor Chepikov records water as art of illusion, allowing things to arise in the interplay of surface and interior; at the same time he shows what remains when water wreaks its havoc uncontrolled.
