As one of the five partner houses, during the festival period, the Käthe Kollwitz Museum Cologne
offers anyone interested in photography (over the age of 16) the opportunity
to get to know more about the work of photographer Eva Besnyö in four different photography workshops.
"I came to Berlin and there came the light ..."

Influenced by the New Objectivity, Eva Besnyö (1910-2003) created fascinating photographs
in more than six decades, ranging from architecture and portraiture to documentation in the context of
the women's movement of the 1960s and 70s.
The four-part photo workshop picks up on Besnyo's photographs,
devoting herself every day to another important aspect in the photographer's work:
the portrait, the effect of light and shadow, black-and-white photography,
and finally the diagonal, which for her is formally aesthetic Meaning had.

Based on considerations of selected works in the exhibition, under the direction of the
photographer Klaus Wohlmann, the urban streets of Cologne will be explored.

The various topics are the starting points for the testing of perspective, light and image composition.
