jungekunstfreunde (the youth initiative of the Friends of the Wallraf Richartz Museum and Museum Ludwig) explore the Photoszene festival’s hotspots in Ehrenfeld in the Culture Trail Special. The offer is aimed at members of jungekunstfreunde and prospective members, preferentially under the age of 28.

The 1 to 2-hour tour involves visits to this year’s Photoszene partner institutions and galleries, plus conversations with curators and exhibitors. The tour starts at the exhibition hall of ARTRMX, where the group exhibition “Self Reflection – Who are You!” will be on show, featuring photographs that examine the theme of identity. The trail continues to fringe venue POST TYLER, where the group will be welcomed by artist Sophia Uckmann and hear more about her exhibition “Time as a tool – Inquiries in abstract photography”.

The tour closes with a visit to the RUFFFACTORY: Here, students from the Folkwang University in Essen show their photographic works in a group exhibition under the joint pseudonym “AuContraire”.

Finally, from 8:30 p.m., participants on this tour, along with all visitors to the Rufffactory, can look forward to an artist’s talk organised by job&kunstfreunde on the theme, “Why exhibit – Why not?”, at which “AuContraire” will examine questions on the exhibition practice of a non-institution, among other matters.

The evening draws to a relaxed close at the Rufffactory from 10 p.m. with the festival get-together with drinks and music by DJ Tobby Lolli. Admission is free and the get-together is open to the public.
