A further projection installation takes a look at the evolution of a DGPh award and its winners. Since 1979, the Image section of the DGPh has been awarding a stipendium, named after the educator and photographer Dr Otto Steinert (1915-1978), for a time-limited, nascent photographic work. In the projection, which will be on show to the general public all day at the MAKK, many of the photographers who have won the award will be presented, among them Axel Hoedt, Pepa Hristova, Arwed Messmer , Maziar Moradi, Lukas Roth, Björn Siebert, Ina Schoenenburg, Hermann Stamm, Katrin Thomas and Wolfgang Zurborn.
The award is a memorial to the great photographer and educator Dr Otto Steinert, who founded “subjective photography”. As a curator and teacher at the Folkwang School in Essen, he additionally shaped a whole generation of photographers and exhibition-makers. The Dr Otto Steinert Award has been advertised as a stipendium every two years since 1983. It is worth 5000 Euro, which can also be shared.
