A book about a street – a street about a book

The exhibition is an homage to Chargesheimer and his photographic works on the streets of Cologne, such as his famous photobook UNTER KRAHNENBÄUMEN (1958).
To this day, this paean to that legendary street remains an impressive testimony to street life in Cologne. Can ballads about “streets like these” (Heinrich Böll) be transferred to the present day? Can “photobooks like these” be a resource for questions of quality of life in the city of today and tomorrow?
