“Peter Gowland’s Girls” is devoted to the American photographer Peter Gowland (1916 – 2010). He photographed young women in glamour and pin-up style in and around Los Angeles from 1946. Right at the start of his career the New York Times described him in 1954 as “America’s No. 1 Pin-up Photographer” and subsequently located his images “somewhere between seduction and art”. The exhibition presents around 200 works that have been selected from Gowland’s estate, including numerous vintage prints.
