The Photoszene Festival’s taking place in September for a final time, before we switch to May alongside photokina from 2019 onwards! With 87 exhibitions, Internationale Photoszene Köln is uniting photography protagonists in one strong alliance once again, many and varied though their approaches to photography may be: the medium’s multifacetedness is precisely where Photoszene Köln’s focus and strength lies.
A new programme has been devised to bring this diversity more sharply to light: For the Photoszene Residency Artist meets Archive, this year we have the honour of welcoming six international artists to the city’s collections and archives. We’re as excited about their exhibitions in May 2019 as we are about the abundance of photography exhibitions this year!
Photoszene is looking forward to many high-profile photography exhibitions for example at Museum Ludwig, at the Museum of Applied Arts Cologne, at Photographische Sammlung/SK Stiftung Kultur, at Forum für Fotografie, at Galerie Parrotta Contemporary Art, at Kunsträume der Michael Horbach Siftung, at Kulturkirche Ost, CityPavillon at the Antoniterkirche, at Christuskirche, at Kartäuserkirche and in many others galleries and art spaces of the city.
MAKK - Museum of Applied Arts will be our Festivalcenter, and moreover we once again celebrate the photo book: This year's guests are the Kassel Dummy Award and the renowned Kassel Photobook Award! In close collaboration with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Photographie, there will be an extensive fringe program.
We are very much looking forward to your visit!
