As a season opener Galerie Julian Sander shows an exhibition that is incunabulum and homecoming simultaneously: For the first time, after numerous international exhibition projects on the great photographer, a portfolio of 24 vintage prints by August Sander can be seen in the Cologne gallery space. This portfolio was put together by the latter’s grandson Gerd Sander in 2009. In it, in just 12 pairs, the quintessence of the epoch-making “Menschen des 20. Jahrhunderts” project is condensed and yet precisely reproduced.
