We often see terrible things happening in Giordano’s images: serious accidents and deaths. Our instinctive reaction is confusion and consternation in the face of the characters’ unhappy fate, but then this vague discomfort breaks out into liberating laughter. That is the effect that he intends to achieve through his photographs: Tell the tragedy by means of irony. A shattered humanity, which Giordano observes with fondness and from which he himself does not feel excluded.
