To Mellado, born in Alméria in 1966, Cuba is one of the world’s most up-to-date countries. “For me it was the fascination with beauty that resides in the ephemeral.” His large-format photographs unfold their poetic force on the basis of their masterfully traced geometric composition structures and the possibilities of technology. He turns topographically familiar surroundings into scenarios that radiate a striking calm and quietness, but also appear mysterious to the viewer.
