Two films by film-maker couple Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet (1933 in Metz/Paris 1936-2006 Cholet Cholet) about the painter Paul Cézanne form the departure point of the exhibition Straub/Huillt/Cézanne. One does not paint souls. At the same time, the question of what painting is leads into a discourse that investigates the relationship between painting, photography and film. On show are works and archive documents by contemporary artists, literary figures and contemporaries of Cézanne.
